Robert Mitchell

Robert Mitchell is a Texas native whose lifelong passion for the Western way of life began with a career in professional bull riding. After competing in both the NIRA and PRCA, Robert transitioned his dedication from the arena to the workshop, where he discovered a talent for leather craftsmanship. This hands-on experience allowed him to produce durable, high-quality custom rodeo gear, chaps, and belts tailored to the specific needs of working cowboys.

For over 26 years, Robert’s expertise has been recognized through his construction of the prestigious Top Hand Saddle awards for both the Texas Ranch Round-Up and the Western Heritage Ranch Rodeo. Though he has expanded his business interests over the years, he remains committed to his craft, consistently working on custom saddle projects from his home base in Throckmorton, Texas.

Beyond his leatherwork, Robert is a versatile entrepreneur who owns and operates a local feed store and Mitchell’s Cowboy Mercantile. His businesses offer everything from hunting and cattle supplies to Western apparel, jewelry, and art. Through these ventures, Robert continues to support his community and preserve the rich heritage of the American West.
